Future Leaders

President and Vice President of European Parliament

The European Parliament’s presidency in EUropa.S. consists of the European Parliament President and the European Parliament Vice President. They moderate the European Parliament’s General Assembly and they cooperate productively within a mood of mutual respect and trust in order to promote European Parliament’s main goals. They also, assure that EUropa.S.’ Rules of Procedure are followed throughout the Conference and by all Participants.

Moreover, the European Parliament’s presidency has to remain neutral during the Parliamentary procedures and maintain stability and uniformity to the simulated Committees, by making their statements during the debating procedures.

The European Parliament President and Vice President, in order to accomplish their responsibilities in the Simulation’s framework, are assisted by the rest members of the Secretariat, on a constant liaison and cooperation for the promotion of EUropa.S.’ organization, needs and goals.

The President and Vice President of the European Parliament are members of the Secretariat and assist the organization of EUropa.S. in close cooperation with the other members of the team and the Organizing Team. They assure that respect is applied by all simulated committees on the jurisdiction of the European Institutions’ processes.

President and Secretary General of European Council

The European Council is about to be simulated officially in the framework of EUropa.S. in 2024 for it’s seventh time in the Greek academic community. The European Council’s presidency consists of the President and the Vice president who will function in a mood of mutual understanding and cooperation aiming to implement the procedural rules of the body.

Since the Presidency of the European Council periodically rotates, the Council’s board should be neutral in the debating process and has to promote the dialogue and interests of the member states equally and indifferently, in order to assist the enhancement of the European Union’s goals and fundamental interests.

The President of the European Council is a member of the Secretariat.

Presidency of the European Court of Justice

The Presidency of the European Court of Justice, at EUropa.S. 2024 will be conducted by the President, the Judge-Rapporteur and the Advocate General.

President and  Judge-Rapporteur

Prior to the conference, they are obliged to prepare the case in co-operation with the academic supervisor, to provide answers to legal questions from all possible parties (advocates and judges included), to provide feedback to the judges for their preliminary opinions and in general, to serve all the possible registeriat’s tasks that a trial might encounters.

During the conference, they have the same responsibilities with the Advocate General. The Judge-Rapporteur is responsible to accompany the advocates whilst the President and the Advocate General will participate and moderate closed deliberations. Lastly, the President is responsible for the overall result of the under discussion case and the compliance to the Rules of Procedure.

The Advocate General

Prior to the conference, he/she is responsible to guide the judges in order to do their personal research and to provide them with all  possible legal explanations that might ask for, to assist the advocates with their written memorials, to issue in public his/her preliminary opinion concerning the case and to assist in general the work of the Presidency.

During the Conference, he/she is responsible to assist in the moderation of discussion and the Presidency in general, to assist the judges during closed deliberations and to examine the witnesses.

The President of the European Court of Justice is a member of the Secretariat.

President of European Commission

The President of European Commission represents the interests and beliefs of the European Commission within the European Parliament’s official procedures. He/she preserves the right to attempt the specialized committees of EUropa.S. and make statements to the MEPs in order to promote debating and negotiation procedures.

Committee/Institutions’ Boards

The Committee/Institution Boards consist of the President and the Vice President for each simulated Committee or Institution at EUropa.S. 2024. The principal role of the Presidencies is to moderate the debating procedure of each Committee and to assure the appropriate applying of the Rules of Procedure from the participants.

In addition, they are mainly responsible for the commitment and implementation of the political parties’ and countries’ policy on behalf of the MEPs, and the countries’ policy as far as the rest of the participants are concerned, in order to indemnify the appropriate and realistic representation of the European Institutions’ procedures.

The chairs of EUropa.S. 2024 will also be responsible for preparing their Committee’s or Institution’s Study Guide, and/or any supporting document. Throughout the Conference they shall ensure that the members of their designated Institution/Committee remain properly informed, as well as that the Secretariat stays informed on any issue related to their Institution/Committee or the overall organization of the Conference.

The chairs are finally obliged to respect any deadline given by the Organizing Team or the Secretariat of EUropa.S. 2024.

Head of Press Team

The main goal of the Press Team is to rush to capture the palm of negotiations and policy-shaping taken place both in and out of sessions, during the days of the conference. Interviews, Video Capture and the Twitter Account of Europa.S. will broadcast the official news account during the days of the conference. There videos, interviews and breaking news regarding crises will be uploaded.

The Head of the Press Team shall be responsible for

  1. the whole team distribution throughout the days of the session, 
  2. the approval of the content which is uploaded to Europa. S News! Twitter account 
  3. Overall supervision of the press team.

Head of Shadow Participants

The “shadow participants” are part of the executive team of the conference. Their primary responsibility is to assist the Secretariat and the Boards in carrying out their duties. Their name explains their quiet “shadow”-like presence in the committees and sessions, as a way of observing the processes and debates, thus preparing themselves for future editions of EUropa.S. Additionally, the shadow participants may also collaborate with the Press Team into developing crisis that will affect the flow of debates and negotiations for the other participants.

The Head of this team shall be responsible for ensuring that the Shadow Participants are properly trained and organized so as to facilitate the procedures of the Conference as well as to the way they may contribute to crisis or other events. They shall plan the work of his/her team, in accordance with the instructions given by the Secretariat and the Organizing Committee, assuring the overall benefit of the conference.
